Mr Fred Stern
To whom it may concern
Mr Fred Stern has successfully presented a range of seminars to different groups within our school comminity during this year.
I first met Fred at a regional drug eductaion conference last year, when he presented a seminar about Peer Mediation in Schools. He impressed as a person with considerable expertise & experience in the area, who had worked across primary and secondary schools, in family contexts with a respected family & community services provider, Anglicare and with adults in dispute in the workplace. Also he had developed a range of resources, both written and multi-media for use in schools.
Earlier this year, Mentone Girls' Grammer engaged Fred to train all Year 9 students and a group of year 11 students in peer mediation skills. Additionally, Fred presented an introductory lecture to all our staff, outlining the concept of peer mediation & its benefits to individuals in dispute and to the school community generally.
Following completion of the trainning program, Fred was engaged to work more intensively with the Heads of Department and Year Level Co-ordinators about 'Dealing with Difficult People'. He also presented a follow up session with all staff, during which the operation of Peer Mediation at Mentone Girls' Grammar was outlined. In June he will work with the Year 11 level on a programed titled VCE Team.
I would like to commend Fred's presentation style and facility in working with groups of people of different ages and interests.
